Durham Asks Citizens To Exercise Caution With Fireworks
Newly-elected Lawrenceburg Mayor Keith Durham requests that citizens exercise extreme caution when launching fireworks during the Fourth of July holiday.
During the last meeting of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Commissioners, Durham requested that, due to prevailing drought conditions, area residents exercise extreme caution with backyard firework exhibits.
Durham suggested that parents closely supervise youngsters, who generally take an avid interest in fireworks. He cautioned residents to watch fireworks carefully, watching where the projectiles land to ensure that fires are not ignited.
Durham reminds residents that a professional fireworks display will once again highlight the annual Liberty Day Festival. Set to begin around 9:00 p.m., the show will be held at Bobby R. Brewer Memorial Park.
Durham pointed out that such professional displays are considered safe. “Members of the Lawrenceburg Fire Department will be at the scene throughout the display, and will watch the area for two hours afterward to ensure that no fires ignite.”
